Forging Connections through Audience Centered Experiences

Interpretation
How-To Guide
Use this for: Once you understand the basics of interpretation and are ready to think through how your site can invite more participatory interaction from visitors. Can be used to help organize your own thoughts or faciliate staff/board learning and discussion. Created by the National Park Service, this workbook was built to accompany a course on audience-centered interpretation. However it's also a great standalone resource for anyone interested in examining or re-designing the ways visitors experience their site. The workbook includes straightforward information about audience-centered interpretation: the practice and ethic of eliciting audience particiption and contribution as part of your interpretive strategy. We particularly like the section on dialogic questions, which helps you develop prompts to gain meaningful input from your audience and spark deeper connections.
