Thursday, July 9 | 5:00 – 7:00 pm | Seattle Waterfront Overlook Walk, 1505 Alaskan Way, Seattle, WA 98101
Free and open to the public | No RSVP required
Join Maritime Washington and the Suquamish Tribe for an evening on the Seattle waterfront to celebrate the launch of the Tribal Guide to Maritime Washington!
The Tribal Guide to Maritime Washington is a new website and virtual guidebook that connects you with the water-based stories of Washington’s Tribes in one place: their voices, their waters, their traditions, and the places where you can experience it all firsthand. We’re thrilled to launch this new resource with the Suquamish and Squaxin Island Tribes—two nations whose relationships with the Salish Sea run deeper than any map can show.
What to look forward to at the launch event:
- Demo the Tribal Guide to Maritime Washington website for yourself and hear from those who created it
- Participate in hands-on activities led by experts from the Suquamish Tribe, including cedar weaving, Lushootseed language lessons, and shellfish identification.
- Watch the premiere of a new original video exploring Suquamish maritime heritage.
- Enjoy light snacks and refreshments.
