All Maritime Washington Partners are asked to join us in Everett on Thursday, April 2 for a day of learning, networking, and collaboration. This year’s partner meeting will include facilitated discussions with topical experts, updates from Maritime Washington, and plenty of opportunities to connect with fellow partners about maritime heritage in Washington State. Partners are invited to send as many staff, leaders, and volunteers as they would like for no charge, but pre-registration is required before Thursday, March 27.

Parking is available on site. Parking is free for the first two hours and then paid at the following rates: 0-2 hours FREE, 2-4 hours $3, 4-10 hours $6, 10-24 hours $12. “How to Find and Win Grants” with Kristy Conrad, Washington Trust for Historic Preservation
Join Kristy Conrad, Development Director at the Washington Trust for Historic Preservation, for a practical, candid overview of how to strengthen your grant-seeking efforts from start to finish. In this session, Kristy will outline what to consider before you apply, how to craft clear and well-aligned proposals, and what it takes to maintain strong relationships with funders through reporting and follow-up. Designed for participants at any experience level and applicable to non-profit, for-profit, and government entities, this session offers grounded guidance, useful strategies, and real-world insights to help you approach grants with greater confidence and clarity.
“Historic Preservation Programs” with Kim Gant, Washington State Department of Archaeology and Historic Preservation
So, you want to protect a historic building or vessel—where do you start? What help is out there? Join Kim Gant from the Washington State Department of Archaeology and Historic Preservation (DAHP) for a discussion of key historic preservation programs in Washington State that can support local projects, buildings, and even vessels. Kim will introduce the benefits and basics of historic register listing, explain how DAHP assists with nominations, outline who can use preservation tax credits, and highlight how documentation tools—especially the WISAARD system—can help you organize and share information about your historic resources. This session offers practical guidance to help community members understand available programs and determine which may best support their preservation goals.
“Tribal Collaboration: Protecting Our Waters Together” with Patti Gobin, Tulalip Tribes
Patti Gobin, Tulalip Tribal Member and Special Project Manager for the Tribe’s Treaty Rights and Government department, brings over 25 years of community development experience and a lifelong commitment to supporting a sustainable future for the Coast Salish community. Join Patti for a conversation about the Tulalip Tribes’ connection to Washington’s waters and the responsibilities and rights that guide their stewardship, from whitecap to whitecap. She will discuss how we can balance recreation with protection—honoring the waters we love while ensuring they remain healthy for future generations. The conversation will also dive into ways that organizations working in maritime heritage can collaborate with Tribes to protect the places and resources that make our region’s saltwater shores so special.
“Engaging Your Community” with Marie Kidhe, Seattle Department of Neighborhoods
What truly drives community engagement? Join Marie Kidhe from the Seattle Department of Neighborhoods for a conversation about how to build relationships that bring people—especially younger and more diverse audiences—into your programs, events, and spaces. Drawing on her extensive experience across Seattle’s cultural landscape, Marie will explore the difference between simply offering programming and doing the deeper work of engagement. She’ll share strategies for fostering authentic connections, cultivating partnerships, and creating welcoming environments that invite communities to participate in maritime heritage in meaningful and lasting ways.

Scholarships
To support Maritime Washington Partners in celebrating, preserving, and sharing our state’s maritime heritage, a limited number of scholarships are available to help offset costs associated with attending this meeting.
Partners may request up to $750 to fund travel, lodging, and/or meals. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and funding is provided on a reimbursement basis.
