Grant Funds Available to Support Washington’s Maritime Heritage

The Maritime Washington National Heritage Area is now accepting applications for the 2024 Maritime Washington Grant Program. If your work relates to our state’s nautical stories, places, and heritage, read on to learn about this exciting new funding opportunity!

What Projects Are Eligible?

In this round of funding, we’re expanding the pool of eligible projects to include a wide range of activities that strengthen, maintain, and share Washington’s maritime heritage—including interpretive efforts, public events, educational programming, preservation planning, and more.

Who is Eligible?

The Maritime Washington Grant Program funds nonprofit organizations, local governments, Tribes, regional educational institutions, and other entities that support our region’s maritime heritage. Applicants must be located in one of the 13 counties within the Maritime Washington National Heritage Area.

What Funding is Available?

The amount of funding available in the 2024 Maritime Washington Grant Program is expanding. $150,000 in grant funds will be distributed among successful applicants to aid in their maritime heritage work, with a maximum grant request of $15,000 per applicant.

Key Dates

  • March 20, 2024: Grant applications open
  • April 3, 2024, at 12:00 pm: Office hours with grant program administrators (Register here)
  • May 1, 2024, at 5:00 pm: Grant applications due
  • June, 2024: All applicants notified
  • July 31, 2025: Grant-supported projects completed
