Once you submit this form, Maritime Washington staff will review it to make sure everything is in order, and then send you a link for your annual partnership fee. Once that is paid, you’re officially in the Maritime Washington Partner Network!

Alignment

Although our exact work may differ, all partners of the Maritime Washington network are committed topreserving, interpreting, and sharing our state’s rich maritime heritage. We expect that all Maritime Washingtonpartners do work (programs, activities, etc) that supports the mission and at least one of the goals of the heritage area.

Mission

The Maritime Washington National Heritage Area supports a network that strengthens the maritime community and connects people with the stories, experiences, resources, and cultures of our state’s saltwater shores and waterways.

Goals

Build a network of cross-sector partners dedicated to advancing, honoring, and stewarding Washington’s maritime stories and resources.
Provide support and resources for organizations, communities, and Tribes working to preserve, enhance, and share maritime heritage.
Share diverse stories and increase visibility of Washington’s maritime heritage, past and present.
Encourage sustainable experiences of maritime heritage for residents and visitors alike.
Preserve our region’s unique maritime identity, resources, and lifeways.

Commitments

The Maritime Washington National Heritage Area commits to support its partners by:

Facilitating education and learning opportunities, including regular workshops and affinity groups focused on partner-defined topics (starting 2024).
Providing relevant and up-to-date information, including access to a regular partners-only newsletter with curated updates from the field, funding opportunities, trainings, and educational resources.
Promoting your programs, events, and accomplishments to local, regional, and national audiences through newsletters, social media, advertising campaigns, and featured content on the Maritime Washington website.
Helping you tie your work into region-wide messages and themes through regular communications toolkits, technical support and advice on interpretation, and use of the Maritime Washington logo.
Connecting you with your peers doing similar work, with collaborators in different regions and sectors, with funding opportunities and technical assistance, and to allies to help advocate for your mission.

Maritime Washington partners commit to:

Supporting the mission of the Maritime Washington National Heritage Area by helping to celebrate, preserve, and interpret our state's maritime heritage.
Support the values of the Maritime Washington National Heritage Area.
Participate openly and collaboratively in the Maritime Washington Partner Network.
Complete an annual partner survey at the end of each year.

In 2023, we ask that all partners participate in at least one event (such as a workshop or launch event) and share Maritime Washington messaging via their communication channels (newsletters, emails, social media, etc) at least once. However, our main expectation in 2023 will be for you to help us make this network as useful and effective as possible by providing feedback.

At the end of the year, we will ask you to fill out a survey to share projects/activities related to MaritimeWashington goals, highlight any “best practices” you’ve uncovered, and identify topics you’d like to dive deeper on in the coming year. We commit to keeping these surveys short and manageable.

Annual Partner Fees

All Maritime Washington partners are asked to pay an annual fee to support the development of resources and educational opportunities for the network. So that budget size is not a barrier to participation, we can offer alternative solutions for partners who are unable to pay this annual fee. Please reach out to Program Director Alex Gradwohl at [email protected] to discuss. Maritime Washington staff will reach out to you with a link for payment upon reviewing your answers to this form.

Anchor Organizations from Management Planning—no fee for 2023!

Local, state, and federal government entities/agencies, Tribal governments

More than 500 employees: $500 per year
100-500 employees: $300 per year
Fewer than 100 employees: $150 per year
National Park Units and others under Secretary of the Interior: no fee (as partner program of NPS)

For-profit maritime businesses and destination marketing organizations

Annual budget greater than $1 million: $500 per year
Annual budget $300,000 to $1 million: $300 per year
Annual budget less than $300,000: $150 per year

Nonprofit organizations

Annual budget greater than $1 million: $250 per year
Annual budget $300,000 to $1 million: $150 per year
Annual budget less than $300,000: $75 per year
All-volunteer organizations: pay what you can
