In this inaugural cycle, the Maritime Washington Grant Program will support projects related to the planning and implementation of interpretation initiatives centered on maritime heritage. The primary purpose of this program is to support projects that share diverse stories from, increase visibility of, and encourage public engagement with Washington’s maritime heritage, past and present. Before applying, please review details about this program’s requirements and eligibility in our Program Guide. If you have any questions about this application, we encourage you to check out the video walk-through on our FAQs page, join Maritime Washington staff for virtual office hours on November 30 (register here), or contact us at [email protected].
All applications must be submitted via the online form linked below.
To avoid losing your work, please plan to submit your application in one sitting. Before you start the online application, you will need:
- Prepared application answers. We strongly recommend downloading a copy of the application questions and preparing your answers in a separate document in advance of completing this form. Download a copy of the application questions here. (Recommended)
- Federally-issued Unique Identifier Number. The federal government is requiring a new Unique Identifier Number (UIN) to replace the DUNS number for all organizations receiving federal funds. As this grant program is federally-funded, you will need to include your UIN in your application. If you need help to obtain a Unique Identifier Number, please visit the SAM.gov website for assistance. There is NO CHARGE for this number. Once on the SAM.gov site, please look to the right of the screen. It will state: Register Your Entity or Get a Unique Entity ID. Please enter this portal, and it will walk you through the steps to obtain a UIN. (Please note: you do not need to register your organization in SAM.gov—you simply just need to get a Unique Identifier Number). (Required)
- Interpretation – Implementation Grant Applicants:
- Completed Project Budget Worksheet. Please download the worksheet here. (Required)
- Up to five documents used in your project planning and budgeting. (Optional)
- If relevant, at least one photo of the space you intend to install your interpretation activity. (Optional)
- Interpretation – Planning Grant Applicants:
- If relevant, at least three photos of the space you intend to install your interpretation activity or overall space of your facility or site. (Optional)
Applications will remain open until 6:00 pm on December 15, 2023. This application should take you no more than two to three hours to complete. For any additional questions or support, please contact the Grant Administrators at [email protected].
