SUMMARY:Partner Field Trip: Fort Nisqually
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a partner field trip to Fort Nisqually in Tacoma on Thursday\, December 10th\, exact timing to be announced. \nIn April 1833\, the Hudson’s Bay Company established a stockade and trading post called Fort Nisqually on Sequalitchew Creek on the Nisqually Delta\, becoming the first permanent European settlement on Puget Sound. Today\, the site is home to a recreation of the original Fort—including the historic Granary and Factor’s House—and is open to the public as a living history museum in Tacoma’s Point Defiance Park. \nDuring our field trip\, we’ll explore how Fort Nisqually uses living history and exhibits as methods to interpret our state’s maritime heritage. We’ll end our day with a debrief led by interpretive specialist Emily Jacobs. \nField trips are free for all partner organizations\, but pre-registration is required using the form below. \n\n \n \n Register for Fort Nisqually Field Trip\n Use this form to register for the Maritime Washington Partner Field Trip to Fort Nisqually on Thursday\, December 10th\, timing TBA.
